Riser ManagementOrganized, documented riser pathways for multi-tenant buildings
Keep Your Building’s Vertical Pathways Under Control
In a multi-tenant office building, the riser is shared infrastructure. Every tenant, carrier and contractor runs cable through it, and over the years it fills with unlabeled and abandoned cable. Overcrowded risers make new tenant connections slower and more expensive, add combustible material to vertical shafts and leave building managers with no record of what is inside.
Infinity Networks provides riser management for property managers, building owners and tenants across Dallas-Fort Worth, from designing riser pathways and installing backbone cable to labeling, documentation and removing abandoned cable.
- Riser design and cable installation
- Abandoned cable removal
- Labeling and building documentation
Riser Services
Complete support for building riser requirements, from design to cleanup.
Riser Infrastructure Design
Planning riser pathways and sleeves so cabling routes efficiently between floors with capacity for future tenants.
Riser Cable Installation
Installing and routing backbone cable through vertical riser spaces for reliable floor-to-floor connectivity.
Labeling & Documentation
Labeling riser cables and keeping records so every cable can be traced to its owner and endpoints.
Riser Pathway Cleanup
Identifying and removing abandoned cable and organizing what remains for a clean, accessible riser.
Maintenance & Upgrades
Ongoing maintenance and upgrades to riser cabling as tenants change and technology evolves.
Tenant Circuit Extensions
Connecting carrier services from the building demarcation point to tenant suites through the riser.
Why a Managed Riser Matters
A riser that is planned, documented and maintained protects the building, speeds up tenant move-ins and avoids costly surprises.
Fire & life safety
The National Electrical Code requires the accessible portion of abandoned communications cable to be removed. Clearing it reduces the combustible load in vertical shafts.
Capacity
Removing dead cable frees sleeves and pathways for new tenants and carriers without costly new penetrations.
Documentation
Labeled, recorded cable makes tenant connections faster and troubleshooting straightforward.
Code compliance
Cable in risers must carry the proper fire rating. We install riser-rated or plenum-rated cable as each pathway requires.
How We Work
One accountable team from planning to final documentation.
Survey
Inspect the riser floor by floor and document existing cable, pathways and available capacity.
Identify
Trace and test cable to confirm what is active and what is abandoned, and verify with building management and tenants.
Clean & Install
Remove abandoned cable, organize what remains and install new backbone cable where needed.
Label & Document
Label every cable and deliver updated records of the riser’s contents.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about riser management.
A riser is the vertical pathway, made up of stacked telecom closets, shafts and sleeves, that carries cabling between floors. It connects the building’s main telecom room to each floor and to each tenant suite.
Abandoned cable is cable that is no longer connected or in use and is not tagged for future use. The National Electrical Code requires the accessible portion of abandoned communications cable to be removed. Over time, it adds combustible material to the riser and consumes space new tenants and carriers need.
Riser-rated (CMR) cable is designed for vertical runs between floors and resists fire spreading from floor to floor. Plenum-rated (CMP) cable meets a stricter rating for air-handling spaces, such as ceilings used for return air. Plenum cable can be used in a riser, but riser cable cannot be used in a plenum space.
We trace and test cables before removal and confirm with building management and tenants. Cable is only removed once it has been verified as abandoned.
Yes. We survey and label the riser and provide records of what is installed. We can also capture Matterport 3D scans of risers and telecom rooms for a visual record your team can view remotely.
Yes. We provide ongoing maintenance and upgrades so your riser stays organized as tenants move in and out.
